17 February -24 February

The kids decided to get into their fanciest clothes for a casual potluck gathering at the apartments here. So this meant a fluffy party dress for Tate and a vest and tie for Brice.

We languished at the beach in the days before Tate was scheduled to start school. The sand and waves always makes us so hungry so we decided to get off the bus on the way home at a restaurant the we always pass. It's a restaraunt that's been built around some sort of military cargo plane that never made it's way to it's Nicaraguan destination. In any case, it's a fun place for the kids, the food is pretty standard grill fare (great for post-beach), and the place has a great view of the Pacific. There's even a resident sloth who sloths around in the trees next to the restaurant.

The big event of this week was Tate's first day of Kindergarten. She's been very cool through the weeks of anticipation and she seemed to know what to expect. So of course she was eager to jump aboard the bus when it arrived to pick her up at 7:15. With a wave she was gone. Afterwhich, Mom shed some tears (as if there was any question).

Brice and I used the excuse of needing to deliver school supplies to go and visit her during the day at her classroom. Lots of other parents were there so by no means did I feel like I was 'embarrassing' Tate.

The bus brought her home at 1:00, and she seemed delighted by all of it. The second and third days were pretty much a repeat of the first, and then we sensed that she wanted to be reassured that she wasn't missing anything fun while she was away at school.
