Tate with teacher Marisol

Tate and Brice at Rancho Leon, the restaurant next to Tate's school.

Tate, Brice, and Brice's new girlfriend Mallory (who lives in Florida). Saying goodbye, which is why Brice has the frowny face.

The bridge on the more direct route to Tate's school remained closed for most of the week which meant for long days for Tate with the added hour of travel time. Thursday it was open as Tate came home and happily announced when she arrived home. This meant that we could all take the public bus and pick her up from school on Friday. When we arrived at her school we saw that they had thrown a party in honor of Tate's almost-last-day. Tate seemed a bit confused and was trying to clarify to them that it wasn't her birthday; she has a few more days left of school after the Easter holiday break, so she didn't quite grasp the reason for the party. They threw the party early as parties are allowed only on Fridays. In any case all of the students were buzzing from the cake and icecream and there were balloons everywhere. It's a sweet school, Tate will be missed.

There was a family staying at Las Cascadas (our apartments) from Florida. They had two daughters Savannah, 11 and Mallory, 7. On their last night here we all had a pot-luck fiesta up by the pool. Somehow Brice and Mallory became inseparable holding hands, kissing, and if separated even for a minute Brice went around asking everyone "Where's Mallory?" and yelling for her "Mallory?!!!". He even woke up the next morning (at 6:30) only to go outside to search for her yellingl, "Mallory??!!". It was a sad goodbye for him.

We took Dad out to breakfast on Sunday and then headed directly to the beach for a festive day of boogie boarding. The spring break crowds have brought the beach to life with people watching. It has also brought out the costa guardias who succeed in creating an highly visible (and obnoxious) presence with their motorized watercrafts and ATV's.

The weather is changing... thunder in the distance... power outages. With the power out, Geoff and I spent his last evening here playing cards by the light of the full moon (and a tiny flashlight) after the kids went to bed.
